PAPYRUS - prevention of young suicide
PAPYRUS exists to give young people hope and to prevent young suicide.
Every year over 1600 young people take their own lives in the UK. Many thousands more contemplate suicide; many harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.
We draw from the experience of many who have been touched personally by young suicide across the UK and speak on their behalf in our campaigns and in our endeavours to save young lives.
Our confidential helpline 'HOPELineUK 0800 068 41 41' gives support and practical advice to young people worried about themselves, those worried about young people and anyone else concerned that a young person may be at risk of harming themselves.
It is staffed by professionals experienced in working with suicidal young people, families and carers.
Hopeline is open:
Monday to Friday: 10am-10pm
Saturday and Sunday: 2pm - 10pm
We also provide a text service on 07786 209697 and a confidential email service on pat@papyrus-uk.org
