Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?
The Pre School will know if your child needs extra help through regular observations and assessments carried out by staff.
- How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?
If you think that your child may have special educational needs, discuss your concerns with our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
- How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?
Actions plans will be drawn up and agreed with you to suit the individual needs of your child.
- How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?
Appropriate activities and resources are selected to suit the needs of each child.
- What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?
Each child is allocated a Key Person and parents/carers can discuss their child's progress with the Key Person and/or SENCo. Assessments are sent home and parents/carers are welcome to visit Pre-School to discuss their child's development and progress. The Next Steps section of the Assessments include areas and examples of how parents/carers can support their child at home.
- What specialist services and expertise are available at or accessed by the setting/school/college?
We have procedures which help children settle into their new environment and the Key Person will act as a link between home and the setting. We encourage self-help, PSE and healthly lifestyle skills throughout the session.
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?
Through Warrington Borough Council we can access relevant services and training.
- How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?
The SENCo attends regular SEND training and updates and this is shared with all staff. All staff also attend regular safe-guarding training.
- How accessible is the setting/school/college environment?
All children are invited to attend Pre-School trips with additional support put in place if needed.
- How will the setting/school/college prepare and support my child/young person to join the setting/school/college or the next stage of education and life?
We fully comply with the requirements of DDA95.
- How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?
We have procedures to help each child's transition both on joining Pre-School and when moving on to a new education setting.
- How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?
We have a wide range of resources suitable for the needs of young children attending our setting. When necessary additional resources/equipment can be purchased.
- How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?
Following assessments of each child's development any additional support if agreed between the Key Person, SENCo and the parents/carers.
